Eye Opener

While I was researching for my next article (yes, I'm officially a writer for a special column in a local natural health magazine), I got bored, so I flipped through some international magazines for some inspirations. Then I encountered something that I find quite inspiring for life in general:

"10 Thoughts on Whole Living"
  1. Find a few minutes each day to completely unplug.
  2. Giving to others is the most powerful thing we can do for ourselves.
  3. See physical fitness as a practice, not a goal.
  4. This season, make it a point to heed your need for solitude.
  5. The secret to beautiful skin starts with what you put inside your body.
  6. Try doing even the most menial tasks mindfully and with grace.
  7. The quality of your connections with other people carry you further than you think.
  8. Just because a no-frills home remedy is simple doesn't mean it won't work.
  9. If you want to eat healthier, try giving yourself the benefit of better choices.
  10. Home isn't a place. It's a state of mind.
Hope that'll inspire you as much as it has opened my eyes.

Fashionista - Olivia Palermo

Who is this girl? If you didn't know Olivia Palermo as the daughter of a real estate developer, Douglas Palermo - a rich socialite! - then you'd probably know her better from MTV so-called-reality show The City.

She has been noted as a socialite and has graced the cover of New York Magazine as the It-Girl in 2007. This chic fashionista made her debut on the New York social scene when famed social photographer, Patrick McMullan began snapping pictures of her at events about town.

Her trendy and chic sense of style has grabbed my attention the moment I first saw The City by accident - mind you, I'm not really a fan of MTV so-called-reality series too much. She can wear something from Topshop and pair it with Christian Louboutin brogues or an It-bag, it looked instantly ah-mazing! Her style is trendy yet not over the top.

good words

When I opened my eyes this morning, I was greeted by a sweet little message from my cousin. It's called "24 Ultimate Tips For Better Life". Thought I'd share it with you:
  1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, SMILE. It is the ultimate anti-depressant.
  2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
  3. When you wake up in the morning, pray to ask God's guidance for your purpose today.
  4. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants, and eat less food that is manufactured in 'plants'.
  5. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli and almonds.
  6. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
  7. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
  8. Eat breakfast like a King, lunch like a Prince and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.
  9. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
  10. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Forgive them for everything.
  11. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
  12. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
  13. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
  14. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
  15. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
  16. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: "In five years, will this matter?"
  17. Help the needy. Be generous. Be a 'giver' not a 'taker'.
  18. What other people think of you is none of your business.
  19. Time heals everything.
  20. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
  21. Your job won't take care of you when you're sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.
  22. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
  23. Each night before you go to bed, pray to God and be thankful for what you have accomplished today.
  24. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed!

Fashionista - Lauren Conrad

Though I've never been a huge fan of MTV so-called-reality show The Hills (especially with Speidi Monsters in it), reading trashy gossip magazines, I've gained an interest to one of their particular alumni, Lauren 'LC' Conrad. Not with her personal life, but more with her chic style that exudes LA cool. You know, that whole casual and laid-back, effortless chic.

She has developed her own fashion line, the Lauren Conrad Collection, in which debuted at the Mercedes Benz LA Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in March 2008. By March 2009, she announced that she would be taking a hiatus from the fashion line; the spring and summer 2009 lines have been canceled. But now she's back, collaborating with Kohl's, for a more affordable pieces, which resembles her own personal style:

"it's her party and she'll cry if she wants to"

One of my girl friend is getting married next week. So a bunch of us girls (and boys) held a hen's night in her honor. She can't say 'no' to whatever we have in store for her.

Killer purple fake eyelashes!

Athens, Greece Pt.7

Okay, here's the final one. Day 7 is the last day of my trip to Athens. Wish I could've stayed longer. But no can do, gotta go back to the real life. *sigh* I'm so sad that this wonderful trip had to end, but some day I will go back there again. I mean it. I love everything about it there.

Day 7. Went sightseeing and do a little souvenir shopping for friends and family back home. Along the way, we made a short stop at The Tower of the Winds (at the Roman Agora). Such a beautiful building.

Ermou Street, where everyone goes for shopping. It has everything from H&M, Zara, Berschka, and many more. It has been pedestrianized so it was great to just wander around, and when you're tired you can sit on the benches in front of the old church on the corner of the street.
We end our stay in Athens by having a lovely dinner at this famous souvlaki restaurant called Thanassis (highly recommended by basically everyone). It was worth every cent. It is located near Monastiraki square.

That's all from Athens! Hope you enjoyed it.

Athens, Greece Pt.6

Alright. Continuing my Greek trip. Here's day 6:

Basically, we went to the Cycladic Museum (pictures below) and Benaki Museum (in which I stupidly put my camera in my other bag that was stored in the storage since we're only allowed to bring the smaller bags into the museum).

After the museum trips, our feet were exhausted. We collapsed on the street bench. Literally.

Had lunch at this cute little gyros shop called Ice Grill. Delicious! If you come to Athens, this is the must-go place for dining. Very casual and laidback, great for people-watching. The prices I thought were pretty cheap. The food? Priceless.
