Merry Christmas!

Celebrated Christmas at my grandmother's house on Sunday. Though it felt somewhat different due to the fact that my uncle Tony isn't here with us any more, the Christmas celebration was still a fun time for our family to just relax and feast. Baby A was quite excited too seeing all the Christmas decorations and tree. Especially the presents!

Oh yeah, I baked some super delicious moist cupcakes to add to the festivities in three yummy flavors! Lemon with Lemon Cream Cheese frosting, Red Velvet with Cream Cheese frosting and Chocolate Chip with Chocolate Ganache frosting. Very delish! (I'm ready to go into business.. I think.)

Can't wait for next year's Christmas! ;)

"Weeping Willow"

Call 'em a poem or a monologue. But this has always been a favorite of mine from the movie My Girl. And I thought it would be appropriate to express our family's loss over our favorite brother/uncle who just passed away.

Weeping willow with your tears running down
Why do you always weep and frown?
Is it because he left you one day?
Is it because he could not stay?
On your branches he would swing
Do you long for the happiness that day would bring?
He found shelter in your shade
You thought his laughter would never fade
Weeping willow stop your tears
There is something to calm your fears
You think death has ripped you forever apart
But I know he'll always be in your heart

Gone Too Soon

Today is a very sad moment for me and my family. My uncle passed away. He was one of my closest uncle. We've shared so many laughter, joy and hard works together. We were part of a team once. Our family has lost a beautiful soul. He has fought but I guess God has other plans. I know he has been placed in a much better place. You will be missed deeply OT. Even now I can still hear your cheeky laughter and your amazingly funny jokes.

I still saw him last Thursday with his usual happy self. That's why his passing came as a surprise to all of us. I still couldn't believe that he has gone. We talked and shared jokes that day. He even asked what Baby A wants for Christmas. He said he might do a magic trick for Baby A and surprised him with a bunny rabbit.

I miss you already.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

It's my father's 60th birthday today! We celebrate his birthday with a "little party" at the office with colleagues and co-workers.. it was a small get together yet very intimate. The cooks from our cafeteria made a lot of effort preparing Tumpeng Nasi Kuning with the works and coconut drinks for lunch. Baskin Robbins has also kindly prepared ice creams (strawberry cheesecake and jamoca almond fudge flavors!). Colleagues and co-workers bought delicious chocolate cakes for my father. It was very sweet and generous of them.

Happy birthday daddy! Wishing you endless health, joy and prosperity! May Allah always blesses you every day of your life! I love you!

Get Well Soon, Mon Cherie

Oh. I was talking about my trusty oven. I can't do any baking at the moment because apparently my oven has gone nutso on me. So I had to have it repaired, I don't know how long it'll take. I already missed it. I can't wait to try out new recipes for this cake I'm sorta developing for something hehe.

Get well soon, mon cherie. Can't wait to spend time baking with you again.

Good Jolly December

There are so many things to look forward to this December. First, there's the Fathers' birthday (both my father and father-in-law has a birthday this December: 15th and 11th). Then of course Christmas Day in which I'm absolutely excited about and cannot wait for! There's also my sister-in-law's birthday on the 31st straight bang on New Year's Eve. Which leads to another thing that excites me so: another Family Getaway!

Yup. Baby A is going on another one of his amazing trips! We're not going too far abroad though. Just a neighboring country that has a Merlion as its mascot. You know what I'm talking about. We'll be celebrating New Year's Eve there.

I can't wait!

Origins House & Kitchen

Went to this really cute restaurant called Origins House & Kitchen. They're embracing everything that are eco-friendly and organic! Salute!

The food was good. I tried the stuffed chicken (so moist and juicy) and the organic fried rice (super delicious resembling a very yummy Chinese fried rice). The fresh lemonade was super cooling on a hot humid day.

The ambiance and decor were very chic and cozy despite that there were no airconditioning! Just fans!

This one is a MUST TRY!

(another) Bandung Trip

As mentioned in previous posts, we went on an impromptu trip to Bandung last weekend. We stayed at this cute boutique hotel The Amaroossa. It has a boudoir feeling with the whole decor. If you're into that sorta thing, I think you'll like it.

Day 1 we went straight to lunch at Hummingbird Eatery (as my dad has never been) soon as we touched down in Bandung. After checking into the hotel, we went to visit Trans Studio (apparently they're aiming to be our own local Universal Studio wannabe but I reckon failed miserably due to so-so building quality and so-so service quality.. I'm truly disappointed).

Day 2 after checking out from the hotel we went to lunch at Origin with some of my mom's friends from the 80s fashion era (fashion designers and ex-supermodels).

After lunch, we headed back to Jakarta, the traffic wasn't too friendly but we got home at a decent time.
