The Sartorialist 'Closer'

Among other things that I received for Christmas, I decided to gift myself something I've been wanting for a while.

One of my all time favorite fashion photographer/blogger Scott Schuman's second book 'The Sartorialist Closer'. I already have his first book, so this was a nice addition to my fashion book collection. Best purchase ever to end the year.

knock, knock 2013?

Well. 2013 is only 3 days away. So many things have happened in 2012. There have been some wonderful moments, there have also been some not-so-wonderful moments. But that's life right?

I don't believe in making new year resolutions anymore, because it puts too much pressure on oneself. Instead, my only resolution for next year is to better myself in every aspect of my life. I hope 2013 will be even better than this year and it'll bring more joy, health, wealth for my family and me. I'm hoping for a chance to travel even further next year. Let's cross our fingers and hope for the best. I'm also hoping to perhaps produce another 'bun in the oven'?

We'll just have to wait and see. And of course, hope for the better. Better future.

What are your plans to celebrate new year's eve?

Lust: J Brand Jeans

There are only two brand of denim that I can really call my ultimate all time favorite and go-to-jeans. They are J Brand Jeans and Nudie Jeans. The rank goes like: (1) J Brand Jeans, (2) Nudie Jeans.

Right this moment I'm lusting over these three babies from J Brand:

L-R: 811 mid-rise in indigo blue, 821 zoey in black, 811 mid-rise in conifer

Although I already owned the 811 mid-rise in indigo blue, I think I might need a newer pair of the same color. Why? Because I think one of our helper kind of destroyed mine in the wash. I was so bummed. I love the color so much. I find these J brand jeans are so comfy and it fits me so well.

I think it'll be my next fashion item purchase come new year. *wink*

Merry Christmas!

Hey people!

Happy (belated) Christmas day to all of you! I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas. I know I did. On Christmas day we went to Grandma Gunawan's house to celebrate (and feast). Little A was so excited this time around because I think now he understands the concept of Christmas more. He couldn't wait to open his presents.

Anyway. We feast on home-cooked pasta, Indonesian bakso (meatball) soup, fruit salad, roast turkey with stuffing and many more.
The Christmas tree at Grandma Gunawan's

Merry Christmas from Little A and me!

On other news, my American family (not related by blood in any way), The McIntosh are in town for one whole month! So excited! Haven't seen them for so long. And they brought me a book that I've been wanting for a while:

Thank you tante Jana and om Mike!

New Year's Eve is only 4 days away! I hope 2013 will be even more awesome than 2012. May the world be a better place for all of us.

busy busy bee

It has been a pretty hectic start this week for me for I have to get busy making cupcake orders for Christmas hampers. Just this week alone I have to do 20 dozens of cupcakes! Crazy! I think by the end of this year, I can't even look or eat at anymore cupcakes haha. Nah. It's all great fun. Tired. But fun. The pay ain't so bad either.

Anyway. 7 more days until Christmas! I'm so excited. I've finished all my Christmas shopping over the weekend. It was a power-shopping day. I was so determined to get it all done in a day due to my 'situation' mentioned above.

I'll be back before you know it! In the meantime, have a jolly great week in order to welcome Christmas day next week!

Talk to you later!

hard work and determination

..has resulted me with this:

I am very determined to get back in shape. I did lots of workout and I actually eat healthier food, which is pretty difficult considering that I love my junk food. But it all finally paid off. I can honestly say that with great dedication and will-power, I CAN do it. I haven't reached my dream goal yet, but I'm getting there.. in a healthy way. I don't do diet (that whole no eating policy to lose weight in speedy time thing is so not for me). I eat healthy and I exercise hard. I can say the current result is pretty good, huh? Not bad for a post-baby result hehe. I'm usually very lazy. Working out and me have a love-hate relationship. Mostly hate. But once I put my mind to it, it's pretty easy. Trust me, if I can do it, so can you. This is coming from one lazy person to another haha.

I found this awesome LA-based online fashion store a while ago and have been tickled to get my hands on some of their products. So recently I finally made my first order to StyleGodis.. and here they are! They're finally here! So excited! Check them out:
StyleGodis pistol necklace and skull bracelet

I would absolutely recommend this online store. Excellent services and fast delivery time! I would totally order something from them again in the near future. LOVE.

Happy Birthday Dad

It's my father's birthday today. He's not one to celebrate big, so we had nasi tumpeng made on his behalf at home for lunch and I baked him some drool-worthy vanilla cupcakes with nutella buttercream frosting.

Happy birthday daddy. We wish you endless health, wealth and happiness! May your life will always be blessed. We love you so much!

A Birthday Celebration

Went to my in-law's house last night to celebrate my father in law's birthday. Just a casual dinner at home. We brought delicious strawberry shortcake from my favorite bakery Bonjour.

Happy birthday papa in law, may your life always be blessed.

Speaking of birthdays, my father's birthday is just right around the corner. I don't know what to get him for his birthday. Suggestion?

"Naku Penda, Little A"

What's been up? My Parisian aunt is in town! That sounds so glamorous isn't it? "Parisian Aunt" haha. Yeah, she flew in from Paris last Sunday. It was so good to see her again after so many years ^^

Anyway. The pictures below are taken during husband's cousin's baby shower about, oh two weeks ago? I haven't had the chance to upload them from my camera.

The last couple of days have been tons of fun. Mainly because husband is on work leave until next Monday so I get to see a LOT of him all day every day. We were planning to have an impromptu trip out of town sometime last weekend, but Little A caught that annoying HFMD virus thing aka Singapore flu. I don't know why they call it 'flu' when there aren't any flu symptoms. He's feeling much better now. I don't remember seeing him looking/feeling awful, though. He's always such a happy little kid. Sick or not. I hope may you be healthy all the time, Little A. Mama loves you so much, and I'd go to the moon and back just for you.

PS: Oh. It's my father in law's birthday today. Happy birthday pa, may you always be blessed ^^ Amen.

"Naku Penda"

What does that mean you ask? I'll give you a hint: Michael Jackson's Liberian Girl.

How cute are my boys dressing alike? Love them both to bits! I like dressing 'em both. The husband would often address me as his personal fashion stylist. Whatever I choose he'd wear 'em wholeheartedly. I'll take that as a compliment.

A School Trial

I took my boy for a school trial last Thursday. I know he's only 23 months old, but I thought I'd try putting him to a preschool to see if he's interested and to socialize with other kids his age. Anyway. So off we went to Kidea Preschool near our home.

The result?

He was so happy and had a blast! He took part in most of the activities the teachers had to offer in the class. I was so ecstatic myself I took pictures of him like some weirdo. Anyway. Check out some of the photos:

The class only lasted for 2 hours.. well what do you expect for a preschool class? After class I asked Little A what he thought of school and do you know what he said? He said, "school is fantastic!"

So.. I guess I should enroll him to school next year then..

Merry December

I wasn't aware in my previous posts that we've reached the month of December. It's a festive Merry month! So many birthdays.. my Parisian aunt (1st), my father in law (11th), my father (15th), my sister in law (31st). And then of course there's the merry celebration of Christmas which I'm really excited about. And the New Year's celebration. It is a quite festive month isn't it?

I'm going to post up some Christmas gifts ideas soon, if perhaps you haven't got a clue on what to get for your loved ones yet. Come to think of it, I have to start making my own Christmas shopping list!

"It's the most wonderful time of the year.."

Lust: the 'Erika'

I've had a long love affair with Ray Ban sunglasses from way back when. I've always loved their timeless and classy feel yet still has that edge.

Exhibit A:
Brother and I have been rocking the colored wayfarers (and check out our matching nautical outfit! Oh yeah, we're that awesome) in '89.

Today, I've had the Wayfarers (in three different colors, obsessed, no?) and the Legend. Next on my top wish list, I really really want this 'Erika' style in tortoise-shell. Can I have this for Christmas, please?

Two people just meeting
Barely touching each other
Two spirits greeting
Trying to carry each further
You are one and I am another
We should be one inside each other

You can see inside me
Will you come inside me?
Do you wanna ride inside my love?
You can see inside me
Will you come inside me?
Do you wanna ride inside my love?

Two strangers, not strangers
Only lacking the knowing
So willing, feeling, infinite growing
While we're here the whole world is turning
We should be one fulfilling the yearning

You can see inside me
Will you come inside me?
Do you wanna ride inside my love?
You can see inside me
Will you come inside me?
Do you wanna ride inside my love?

Little Swimmers

Sunday morning the weather was superb. It was bright and shiny when we're expecting rain the way it has been the last couple of days. So, husband and Little A decided to go for a swim.

I didn't join in on the swimming fun, because I was about to shower and took a head start on getting ready for a wedding. Maybe I'll join in this weekend ;) So excited for next week as husband's took his annual work leave! Let's make plans..

Lust: the PS1

I have been lusting, nay, obsessing even, over this beauty of a creation: Proenza Schouler PS1 medium satchel bag.

Okay, I know it's not really intricate, delicate, or even complicated design-wise. But that's why I love 'em. I find these classic satchel styles are extremely timeless. And let's not forget functional. It has become very important to me when looking for the perfect bag. Having a toddler (an extremely active one), I need a bag that are both chic and practical. These days, I'm leaning towards those who can double as a slingbag. Why? So I can have both my hands free at times when I have to chase around my son while we went out. And the size perfect enough to store all my necessities and Little A's stuff such as baby wipes.. stuff that I need often and I don't have to rummage through his baby bag. Well, it's not like he needed a baby bag any longer when we go out. These days he only brought along a small kiddy backpack shaped like a dog from Skip*Hop to store all his necessities: change of clothes, water bottle, extra diapers/underpants, small towel, a few small toys. Anyway.

Right. Back to my lust and obsession over this particular bag. This one has win out from my other 'most wanted' bag list. It's classic, functional and chic. The only problem? I have a problem choosing which color I want most. Oh, and also, I'm still in the middle of scrimping and saving to (eventually) getting it.

Which color do you reckon I should get?

Girls Night Out

Had the long overdue girl's night out with some of my favorite girls in the world tonight! My besties since God knows how long. I rarely go out like these with my friends after having a baby.. although I still try to arrange a get-together at least once every one or two months. Mainly because I sort of have this guilt trip for leaving Little A while I'm out having fun. I don't know how most moms do it, but it's still pretty hard for me. However, I do believe that as a mom, we must not lose ourselves completely in our role of just being a 'mom'. Before we became a 'mom', we're 'someone'. I must not forget that. It's great having 'me' time once in a while.

So that's why I want to give one of my awesome girl friends, Reza, a big sloppy kiss on her cheek, for arranging this night out. It was a casual night out, we had dinner at this cozy little Italian eatery in Kemang area called aTavola. We talked and talked and talked all night. About everything. It was a great night. Can't wait for our next get-together!

(Me, Reza, Lisa, Dara, Andhita)

I love these girls to bits!

The look - Red, Studs and Army Green

Outfit Of The Day: Zara army green sheer back top, Topshop super soft leigh jeans in raspberry, Topshop black studs loafers, En Garde Artilleries (my brother's line!) necklace, Sam Ubhi 'dance' ring

Long Weekend with the Flu

It was a long weekend for us this week. Fun! Not really. Because Little A and I got the flu. It was a mild one but still annoying. However! It didn't stop us from having a bit of fun this weekend though! On Thursday it was quarantine day for Little A. I didn't want the flu to get any worse for him. Friday we stayed at home still, the husband and I went to Poinsquare for a bit because he wanted to check out some computers. Basically, we had a chance of somewhat a 'date' afternoon. Having lunch and strolling around just the two of us. Nothing romantic, but we had a good time.

Saturday: Husband's youngest brother, Necky, is in town. He had a little break from school so we decided to meet up and had lunch together. Since Little A was feeling SO much better, we went to Grand Indonesia and had lunch at Carl's Jr. Maybe because I was still feeling unwell, I don't really have any appetite so I settle for their chicken salad, which was surprisingly delicious, and the chilli fries.

Sunday (today): Husband, Little A and myself went to this computer bazaar at Gandaria City. While at the bazaar, Little A was dancing along with the music from the DJ performing. He was having a blast, all eyes on him. In the end some sales people wanted to take pictures with him because, well, he was cute and awesome. Haha. Oh yeah, we had sushi for lunch at Sushi Tei.

We end the day (and this long weekend) with getting takeouts from Fook Yew restaurant and call it a day. It was still fun despite the nasty (mild) flu attacking both Little A and myself. But we fought it.

The look - Leather and Skeleton

Went for a little tough chic look today. Tone it down with a cream brogue shoes so as not to look too much like a biker chick because that's not really what I'm going for hehe.

Head-to-toe Topshop (black singlet top, black highwaist leather shorts, cream brogue shoes); Silla skeleton hand necklace (my cousin's label!); Burberry sport watch

Do you ever had that feeling of being lost once in your life? Not just 'lost'. But really, really lost. That you're trapped in these big fat questions of: what should I do? what can I do? what do I do? what do I want? how do I deal? But there just seems no answer coming your way. Just like that U2's song title Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of.

What should I do? I really wish it was as easy as singing it out.

Fun With Books

Today husband, Little A and I went to husband's co-worker's wedding at Balai Kartini. And then we went to lunch at Canteen, Pacific Place Mall. Afterwards, we hung out at the bookshop. Little A has a fondness of bookshop, go figure. He loves looking at books, reading them, observing, basically just hung around the bookshop (at the children's corner obviously).

Though we ended up not buying any books, it was a fun laid-back Sunday afternoon nevertheless.

On Saturday..

..went out to lunch with husband, Little A and my parents at this new Shanghai style chinese fusion restaurant called FOOK YEW! at Gandaria City Mall. The food was surprisingly delicious despite the slow service from the greeters.

The must try food are: Hong Kong Seafood Fried Noodle, Breaded Chicken Sandwich with Shanghai Mayonnaise, Spicy Beef Fried Rice.. the bubble milk tea was also yummy and refreshing, though a bit too sweet for my liking.

FYI, my fave bubble milk tea would still have to be Roasted Milk Tea from Cha Time. Anyway.

I wore Warehouse salmon satin shirt, J Brand skinny denim, my uber comfy Repetto flats and my current fave Chanel Boy bag.

From London, With Love

So my parents went on a trip to London all last week. It was a business trip for my father and my mother tagged along to accompany him. They're back in Jakarta last Wednesday bringing lots of goodies! Well, whenever they went abroad, they brought stuff mostly for Little A these days --" this time around it was no different haha.

Nevertheless, I got my share of goodies too! Check it out:

My favorite has got to be the Repetto flats obviously! I've loved Repetto for as long as I can remember. They're so comfy and comes in variety of cute colors! My mother got me this Cendrillon Ballerina Flats (patent leather) in Taupe to add to my collection. LOVE. Well, actually, I can't really call it a collection since I only have another one in black.. I had a bronze one years ago which I absolutely love and wore until it was all busted that it's no longer wearable anymore.

Thank you parents!

Seeing Red

Saturday! And wow, I can't believe it's November already. Where does all the time go? The husband, Little A and myself went to the mall this afternoon for a quick lunch and stroll.

What I wore today:

Zara top, Alexander McQueen skull scarf, Topshop skinny jeans in Cranberry, ASOS flat shoes, En Garde Artilleries necklace and (my current fave!) Chanel Boy bag.

Happy Halloween

Hello Halloweenies! Happy Halloween!

I decided to dress up as the character from one of my all-time favorite films: A Clockwork Orange. If you haven't seen the movie yet, you're in for a great surprise. It's very tense and graphic, but I love it. Great movie!

So here's my Halloween take on my chosen character:

Hope I did okay. Tell me what you think?

Have a great Halloween people! And happy trick or treating if you do.
