Happy Christmas

Happy Christmas everyone! Wishing all of you a merry and jolly Christmas day! I celebrated Christmas every year at my grandmother's house. Although it was a bit sad due to the obvious absences of a few people (the late om Johnny, om Tony and pakde Berty) we still managed to make this year's Christmas quite a festive one.

Counting Down to December

December is only a few days away. There will be so many things that I'm looking forward to come December (every year): my father's birthday, my aunt desi's birthday, my father in law's birthday, my grandmother's birthday, my sister in law's birthday, Christmas (obviously).. and then there's the New Year's Eve celebration. Well, the thing about New Year's Eve celebration is that.. I'm not so much excited about it anymore. It's just like any other day. New Year's Eve party are pretty much the same from year to year, hence the lack of excitement on my part. I only see it as 'just like any other day'.. but with one big exception. I'm looking forward to wake up on the first day of the new year, to be better as a person and living life in general than the previous year. Grateful that I get to experience another beautiful day with all the people that matters the most to me.

Oh yeah. And then there's also one other thing that I'm looking forward to come December. The still-anticipated trip. It's still pretty much a question of: "yes-go OR no-go?" You'll have to stay tuned to find out the result. *teaser*

Until my next post beautiful people!

These Days

Little A's progress in school has been amazing. He already got himself a group of friends that he hung out during school time. How cute is that? Academically, the teachers said Little A has been improving tremendously. Smart little guy. (And I'm sure all parents would say the same thing about their own child, but I tell ya, my boy is one smart kid haha).

Fun Weekend

How was your weekend? We had a pretty awesome time over the weekend. On Saturday we went to visit Little A's newborn cousin at the hospital, baby Sava. And then we spent the whole afternoon to late evening driving around (mostly due to bad traffic).

Little Sparrow x IWA Charity Event

Whoa. It's almost a whole month I haven't updated anything at all. ANYthing. I've been a bit busy actually. On October 25th I had the opportunity to join the Indian Women Association Charity Bazaar to promote my 'business'. I'm actually somewhat a bit nervous about it mostly because I know that most Indians are vegetarian, how are my products going to work in that environment? But a day before the event, I put that thought aside and told myself, "Just get it over with.. whatever happened, you'll get the chance to promote your products and meet new people who may or may not enjoy what you have to offer."

So there you go.

Overall, surprisingly I sold a huge amount of cupcakes. Most of the people who bought them said they were abso-fucking-lutely delicious and moist. That was a huge relief! And I get a new business opportunity along the way! In the end, I'm left with only two boxes of cupcakes which I could enjoy myself.

Hopefully, this will be a start of something amazing and bring in more business for me. Amen!

His October

Oy. It's October already. Well, alright then. What do we look forward to this October? Husband's birthday is coming up. Then there's also the event most people are so looking forward to: Halloween.

What shall we dress up as this Halloween? Last year, I did the 'A Clockwork Orange' thing. I'm not sure I'm as prepared with an idea this time around. So I think I'm just going to have to wing it and come up with something in a snap.

What are your plans? Would love to hear some ideas.

xx Cheers.

Populo: Broken Heart Party

So I was invited to this special fashion event last Friday. It was Populo's Broken Heart Party, launching their new Batik line.

Thanks om Bai for the invite! Had an amazing time, and I've got my eyes on some of Populo's collections!

It's My Birthday!

It's my birthday! September 24th baby! I woke up on my birthday with kisses from Little A. I'm pretty positive husband wished me a happy birthday before he went off to work so early in the morning (I'm still half asleep). Afterwards my parents surprised me with a cute birthday cake!

Birthday Wish List

My birthday is more or less only 9 days away. The thing is, I'm not that excited to add another number to my age. But I am excited about getting more awesome as I get older.

What I want for my birthday is not a regular birthday cake. Although, okay, I still want to blow out candles on top of a super mouth-watering cake for my birthday. I was recently inspired by a good friend of mine who celebrated his birthday with an awesome waffle and fried chicken birthday 'cake'. I WANT THAT.

So husband, if you're reading this.. Here you go:

Mom's Birthday

September 8th was my mother's birthday.

Happy Birthday, mom. You're the most awesome mother I could ever have. I'm wishing you a never ending joy, health, wealth and all the most amazing things you ever want in life. I love you so much.

Charles Anonymous

I found this song by accident while youtube surfing a few days back and immediately fell in love with the song. 'What Were You Thinking (This Time)' by Charles Anonymous feat. Josh Beech.

If you want to know about Charles Anonymous, follow his twitter @CharlsAnonymous for song updates and more. Or visit his official website. His other songs were just as amazeballs as this one.

Paris: Day 6 & 7 (recap)

Last day in Paris. I'm going to compile two posts into one because there's not much going on in day 7 except for au revoir Paris *sob*

I haven't really described anything about the apartment we're renting throughout our stay in Paris, other than it was strategically located in the most beautiful neighborhood I've ever seen in Paris: ile Saint Louis.

Paris: Day 5 (recap)

It's day 5! Can't believe time flies by so fast when you're having a blast. Since we all want to do different things today (mom wants to go shopping, while I want to do more sightseeing of beautiful Paris), we decided to split up to do our own thing. So today will be the Adventure of the Three Amigos (as in me, husband and Little A conquering the Parisian street)!

Our daily Parisian breakfast staple of fresh squeezed orange juice and freshly baked assorted pastries from the deli across our apartment.

Paris: Day 4 (recap)

Let's continue on with the Europe vacation story shall we? Haha.

So it's day 4.. we decided to take things a bit easy today. Meaning? SHOPPING! Only a few walking distance away from our apartment, we're always greeted by this awesome view! Every freakin' day I tell you.

When You're Gone

The weekend has started with a sad note. My uncle, Johnny Gunawan, passed away on Thursday evening. It was a very devastating moment for all of us. He was such a fun person to be around. Family functions won't be quite the same without you.

His sense of humor, his jokes, his laughter, his presence.. everything about him will surely be missed. And all I can think of is that he's already in a better place now. I hope that God can give the rest of us the strength to move on.

Rest in peace, om.

My September

Well what do you know? It's my month! Hello September! I know I haven't finished my Europe story, and I haven't even uploaded Little A's birthday party. I've just been so caught up with life and all. But! I'll try my best to update them ASAP. And that's a promise.

As some of you may know (or notice from the title), September is my month! My birthday is on the 24th (I'll be posting some birthday wish lists soon haha just in case y'all wondering what to get me for my birthday). My mother's birthday is this weekend! We'll be going to Bali for a weekend trip. So fun!

Anyway, I thought I just drop in to fill you guys in on what's been up in super short updates. I'll be back soon before you know it! See you soon!

Happy 3rd Little A

Little A's birthday the other day! He finally turned 3! Oh god, how time flew by so fast.

Paris: Day 3 (recap)

Today is our second day in Disneyland Paris! We didn't woke up as early as we wanted to because we stayed up so late last night watching the 20th Anniversary Celebration fireworks until the wee hour. Well, okay, actually the celebration lasted until 11pm. But once we got back to the hotel, husband and I ordered some room service. We had tea and some munchies haha.

So anyway. Day 2 Disneyland we're heading to Walt Disney Studio park! They're fairly new (as mentioned in my previous post, they echoes Anaheim's Disney California Adventure Park). Sweet!

Paris: Day 2 (recap)

Day 2 in Paris and we're off to Disneyland! Woo-hoo! My no.1 favorite place in the world!

Paris: Day 1 (recap)

Woke up super early to catch our train (Thallys) to Paris and it took us approximately 2-3 hours ride. It was an awesome experience. Lugging around 8 large luggage around the train station was a fun view (not). Nevertheless, Little A was enjoying every moment of it and he wasn't fussy at all! Such a pro traveler that kid!

So I guess Adios Netherlands! Until we see you again. Next stop, PARIS!

Denhaag: Day 3 (recap)

Here we are. On our last day in Denhaag. I wish we could've stayed longer, then maybe there'd be more exciting visits to Amsterdam as well. But I guess that's for the next European trip. *crossing fingers*

Last day, we decided to take things the lazy route. Woke up a bit later than usual. Had breakfast at the hotel.. none of the shops or restaurants were open until 12pm. WHY?? Anyway. At exactly 12pm we were out of the hotel and ready for a full day of shopping. Okay, not exactly full day because shops will close at exactly 5pm. Again, WHY??

Denhaag: Day 2 (recap)

I know I've been taking too long to finish my Europe vacation story recaps, but bear with me. I'm trying to finish it as fast as I could.

So it's Day 2 in Denhaag. Big day today! Day 2 is all about family quality time: Malieveld, Volendam and Madurodam (all a must go-to place when you visit Denhaag).

Denhaag: Day 1 (recap)

It was sad to be leaving beautiful London. But our trip must go on! Woke up bright and early, Little A refused to wake up and shower. He doesn't want to leave London. So am I, but I'm super excited about heading to Denhaag and then to Paris.

After re-arranging our suitcases so as not to be overweight (FYI: the maximum baggage weight per luggage is 23kg per person) and having a speedy breakfast, we head to Heathrow Airport. We took the British Airlines and it took us approximately an hour to reach Amsterdam Schipol Airport.

London: Day 6 (recap)

Day 6 and our last day in London. Day 6 was dedicated for sightseeing and whatnot. Husband arranged for us to ride on the double-decker tour bus of London. My main goal for the day was to visit the Sherlock Holmes' museum (being a fan and all). No matter what, I was determined to go there.

Happy Ied Mubarak

It's that time of year! Happy Ied Mubarak, the end of Ramadhan month. On the 8th, we went to my grandmother's house to celebrate and had brunch of Lebaran's feast which consists of ketupat, beef rendang, chicken opor, bakso (Indonesian meatballs) and other arrays of Lebaran cookies and cakes. Then husband, Little A and myself went on to visit husband's sides of family. It was a fun tiring day. We went home with a full belly.

London: Day 5 (recap)

Hello! It's Day 5 already?? We got back to the hotel so late last night, Little A was feeling exhausted I bet, so after a brief discussion with the husband, we decided on rescheduling our 'bus tour' for the following day.

Hello August!

I'm back! I had a superb vacation. I'll be writing on my vacation recaps in another posts, I've been feeling rather exhausted and trying to get my head together again. In the meantime, I thought I'd say hello!

It's August! Awesome month. So many things ahead: the upcoming 4th wedding anniversary with husband (obviously), Ramadhan Ied Fitri celebration, and of course Little A's 3rd birthday! What an exciting month. Let's hope it'll be a great start to an awesome beginning!

London: Day 4

My little brother's graduation ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall earlier today. He's officially a Master of Arts in Fashion Photography (wait, is that correct?) now. So proud of him.

London: Day 3 (recap)

Day 3! Still feeling a wee bit tired after a wholesome day at Legoland the other day, we decided to take things easy today. We're going to squeeze in a little sightseeing. Our main destination today is Hamsley Toy Store (apparently the biggest in UK) for Little A.

London: Day 2 (recap)

After Day 1, woke up to Day 2! We're headed to Legoland Windsor today! Located just an hour away from London (actually it was less than an hour, but there were traffic because it was Sunday after all.. seems like everyone has the same idea on going).

London: Day 1 (recap)

A little recap on what's been going on from day 1. I finally had the chance to upload some of the photos from my camera. After the long-haul flight, we finally made it to sunny London. It was the perfect weather. Although it does get super scorching hot during the day. If you're not careful you may get dehydrated. Not cool.

Sunday, July 14, 2013

Hello London!

We've arrived in sunny London! Everyone here has been saying how lucky we are to be visiting at the best weather they've had!

Travel: On Packing Chic and 'Smart' (1)

I love traveling. Some people may dreaded the packing aspect of it. The stress it causes of: what to bring, will it be enough t-shirts, etc. Well, not me. I love it. I guess this comes from my love of planning and organizing. With all the traveling I've done (yes, I've been pretty fortunate enough to be able to travel often), I've become more and more decent and 'smart' when it comes to packing.

A 90s Revival

Last Saturday night I went out with a few of my girl friends (and husband tag along too) to attend an event called "Mesin Waktu: Generasi 90an" (simply translated 'Time Machine: 90s Generation'). The event had everything you would see or experience back in the 90s. Even toys and snacks I would have back when I was in junior high! Being a 90s generation myself, of course I had to go. I always thought the 90s were the best generation ever! Who didn't love super nintendo, grunge fever, awesome 90s music, when MTV were the best music channel ever playing real music, etc.? Can I also just say, the original 90210? Haha.

a short update

So what's been up? I can't even believe it's almost the end of June. Only two weeks away until our trip abroad. Everything has been falling into places accordingly, which is kind of a relief. All last weekend, me, husband and Little A has been coming down with the dreaded annoying flu. But we fought it and we're getting better.

Sometime in my next post, I'll be discussing about my travel tips and tricks that always works for me. Just in case some of you are also in the midst of preparing to go on vacation yourself! Stay tuned for that! You don't want to miss it. I know some people are constantly under the stress attack of vacation/travel packing and whatnot.

That's all for now. Until my next post. I apologize for keeping this one super short, but rather than boring you to tears with rambling nonsenses, I'd rather save it for the next interesting and exciting post!

Until then!

End of Challenge

I finished the 30 days squat challenge! Oh my gosh, to think that I've wanted to quit so many times, but I'm proud to be able to stick to it and finished the challenge. The end results ain't so disappointing either!

So, as promised, here is the end result photo.

Monday, June 17, 2013

the challenge

Remember the 30 Days Squat Challenge I started a while back? Well, I'm on my last day today. Whatever the results I'm still proud of myself for sticking to it and not quitting even though I've almost given up so many times. I'll post the end results tomorrow (maybe).

Here is a picture I've taken a few days ago. There are some visible results though I haven't gotten buns of steel quite yet. But after today, I'm going to start doing at least 50-100 squats every day. It really does work wonders for your 'behind' and stronger legs.

If anyone else are doing this challenge, perhaps you can share your experience and maybe the results?

Wishing everyone a marvelous day today!

School Musical

Last Sunday was Little A's school musical performance and graduation ceremony (mainly for the K2 students). So we got up bright and early and went to Titan Center Bintaro where the event was held. Little A wore this really cute costume of some sort of plant (I'm not sure what he is.. apparently the teachers said they're supposed to be flowers?). I didn't have any pictures of him during the performances, mainly because husband record it on video-mode. Anyway. Little A was a bit timid on-stage, standing there looking rather bored. But at least he plucked up the courage to get up on there. Haha.

June Bug

It's June! This weekend Little A will be attending his so-called-graduation ceremony where his class will be performing as sunflowers. Cute. I'm hoping Little A will cooperate and willing to wear the darn costume. Next week will be report card day, and after that.. SCHOOL HOLIDAY! Also. Only a month to go until our big vacay-cay-cation! Super duper excited! And it's all Little A thinks about.

Can't wait to catch up with my friend back from junior high school day, Mary Dewar, in London. My Uncle Stan and his family in Den Haag. My Aunt Desi and her family, as well as my high school buddy, Anta, in Paris! And a fantabulous trip overall!

Welcome Summer (officially)!

all the ghouls

Little A has been obsessed with anything ghoulish these days. I'm not sure what started this. But he has been constantly talking non-stop and fantasizing about ghosts, zombies, aliens and evil robots (?). He loves watching movies that has all of those. He even already planned on braving the Phantom Manor for our Disneyland Paris visit this summer holiday.

"Ma, would you wear a zombie costume?"

Err. Okay. Not today, kiddo.

30 Days Squat Challenge

These days I'm all about healthy living. I try to maintain a healthy workout regime. I also try to eat better, although it's still difficult cutting out junk food out of my life. But I just pick better things to put in my body. Working out wise, I try to do at least 30 minutes of any kind of work out EVERY DAY. I get bored easily, so I switch between  pilates, running and aerobics. They work wonders. I got stomach leaner and flatter than before my pregnant days.

A couple of weeks ago, I found this 30 days squat challenge. It looked difficult when I read the schedule.. but heck. Challenge ACCEPTED! I'm actually already on day 9 of the 30 days challenge. Wish me luck I can get through with it.

It has been a roller coaster ride so far. I'm hoping I can finish the challenge and get amazing results. I'll post the before and after picture after I finished the challenge, maybe, to see if it work wonders for my behind and overall health. I'm crossing my fingers for a leaner, toned figure for my summer vacation this july *wink*.

Tomorrow is day 10.

Preparation for Travel

Been pretty busy dealing with visa application.

Where I'm heading?

This summer we're jetting to the UK, Amsterdam, Brussels possibly and Paris.

So excited!

I'll probably be posting about the preparation and whatnots up until the d-day. Stay tuned.

In the mean time, I shall return to preparing all the documents needed for the upcoming visa interview.

Book Launch: FaceHunter

Last night I went to the book launch/signing party of FaceHunter Yvan Rodic's new book "A Year in the Life of Facehunter" at The Goods Dept. Pacific Place.

After braving through the horrendous traffic, I managed to arrive at the event bringing along my previous Facehunter book. I'm very pleased to be able to meet Yvan Rodic in person and got him to sign my books. I am a fan of his work. I guess you can say he is a 'life style' photographer because these days, not only he snap pictures of awesome street style, but also his travel adventure: the cultures and basically the whole atmosphere of the places he traveled to. I like that. I love traveling myself, so to be able to see pictures of other people's experiences through their eyes (cameras), I get to experience those places I haven't been myself. Go see his other work here.

FYI, during the event, my boy got himself some Brazilian models. Way to go Little A (much to his mother's plea of don't grow up so fast haha).
