Kartini Day

Wednesday (April 24th) on behalf of Kartini's Day, Little A's school held a special event to celebrate the day. All the kids get to dress up in traditional clothes (Little A wore a Javanese ensemble in which he had to take off halfway through the event because he developed some sort of allergy.. I think the rented outfit hasn't been washed or something. Major eww I know.. poor thing.)

I, on the other hand, participated (more like got thrown into) in the Tumpeng decorating contest with other fellow mothers. My group consists of six awesome ladies (including myself ha!).. and guess what? We won first prize!

The winning Tumpeng
Yeah, we did went a little crazy with the decorations haha

My Fave Tiramisu

These are Little Sparrow's top seller Tiramisu Cupcakes. My fave and am proud to say the best recipe I've ever come up with. The cakes are super moist and the light mascarpone cheese frosting is the perfect combination with a cocoa or coffee dusting on top. For more information come visit Little Sparrow blog page.

Nanny Issues

I have been using a nanny for Little A for almost 3 years now. She worked for us when Little A was almost 8 months old. I must say she's a great nanny. She works hard and the works she did was considered superb. I was pretty confident that she wouldn't leave any time soon. But now my confidence has been shaken. It felt like I was struck by a lighting (not that I ever experienced that, but anyway) when she told me this morning that she wanted to quit due to unsolved family issues back home. She told me she didn't want to, but her circumstances won't allow her to keep working. She was going to just take leave of absence, but she doesn't know until when and she doesn't want to keep us waiting for uncertainty. I am devastated that's for sure. I am now experiencing what most moms are experiencing: the nanny issues. I am beyond heartbroken. The feeling is much worse than breaking up with a boyfriend. I kid you not. I asked Little A if he'd mind having a new 'mbak' (nanny). He looked at me with this quizzical look and got quiet before he shook his head.

When Girls Get Together

Last night went out to dinner with my girl friends and former high school teacher at Mel's Meat Factory. Had so much fun meeting these ladies, especially Nadine (haven't seen her for too long) and our former teacher ibu Melany (the last time we saw her was.. last year?). We talked and talked like there was no tomorrow. Little A wanted to tag along, too. He's excited whenever we took him out during the night time, go figure.

when babies get-together: baby Billy and Little A (with reza playing the role of a nanny)

Can't wait for our next get-together. Hopefully everyone will be there next time (yes, that means you Jana, Moryn and Hanoem!) haha.

Happy Easter

Happy (belated) Easter day everyone! Hope everyone had a good one. I sure did. Sunday went to my best friend, Nadine's baby Billy's tedak siten at Oktroi Plaza. It's a Javanese celebration when a baby is finally able to take a step firmly on the ground (I may be wrong but it's something like that haha). I haven't seen Nadine in a while as she lives in Sydney, Australia. But it sure is nice to catch up with her and my other girls (shown below) Lisa and Reza.

Afterwards, went to my grandmother's house for an Easter celebration. We feast on delicious beef wellingtons (courtesy of aunt Sjully, my mother's friend), my grandmother's tomato soup, salad and Indonesian bakso (meatball soup). I brought along Little Sparrow's variety of mini petite fours cupcakes which includes vanilla with chocolate sprinkles, red velvet with cream cheese and the famous tiramisu with mascarpone cheese.

Little A had a wonderful time at his great grandmother's. He joined in on the Easter egg hunt with his cousins. We got 8 eggs! Not bad at all. It was a fun filled day.

Oh, Happy April Fool's Day!
