Denhaag: Day 1 (recap)

It was sad to be leaving beautiful London. But our trip must go on! Woke up bright and early, Little A refused to wake up and shower. He doesn't want to leave London. So am I, but I'm super excited about heading to Denhaag and then to Paris.

After re-arranging our suitcases so as not to be overweight (FYI: the maximum baggage weight per luggage is 23kg per person) and having a speedy breakfast, we head to Heathrow Airport. We took the British Airlines and it took us approximately an hour to reach Amsterdam Schipol Airport.

Bright and sunny day in Amsterdam. A driver picked us up from the airport and then its off to Denhaag for us. The distance from Amsterdam is about an hour car ride. Little A munched on Burger King's french fries the whole way there.

We decided to stay in Denhaag mainly because (a) it's closer to where my uncle lives, in Scheveningen, and (b) most of the main attractions we wanted to visit are closer from there: Madurodam and Volendam. Since we're only staying for a short period of time in the Netherlands, it's a better choice to settling in Denhaag instead of in Amsterdam anyway.

We stayed at Novotel Hotel Central. It was smack bang surrounded with so many cafes, restaurants, shops, supermarket.. and right in front of the Parliament building. Super strategic location!

Since it was already so late in the afternoon, and shops are closed at 5pm (bummer!) we decided to have tea and some dutch kroket at a nearby cafe right outside our hotel. Then we just wander around trying to get local sim card for our cellphones as well going to the supermarket to get some milk and veggies for Little A.

We were a bit exhausted. Big day tomorrow, so we decided to stay in for the rest of the evening. Husband bought us takeouts from a Chinese restaurant at the China Town (only 10 minutes walking distance from our hotel!) and I asked for the McKroket from the local McDonald.

Until tomorrow! We're about to cram Volendam and Madurodam all in the same day!
