Last day, we decided to take things the lazy route. Woke up a bit later than usual. Had breakfast at the hotel.. none of the shops or restaurants were open until 12pm. WHY?? Anyway. At exactly 12pm we were out of the hotel and ready for a full day of shopping. Okay, not exactly full day because shops will close at exactly 5pm. Again, WHY??
The day was particularly HOT. Most of the trams were filled with people heading to the beach (Scheveningen). Umm, no. No beach for us today.
Since our hotel is located smack bang in the middle of many many shops, department stores, restaurants, cafes and whatnot. We're in good hands. We shopped and snacked like there's no tomorrow. Haha. What else would we be snacking on other than Dutch staples of Kroket, Frikandel, Fries, Stroopwaffles, Pannekoeken, Waffles and the super cooling soft ice cream cone? Husband was happy. Ecstatic even.
Soon as 5pm hit the clock. Most shopkeepers started to clean up even before closing time. I guess they couldn't wait to get their butt out of the store. So we drop off our shopping bags at the hotel, and walk our way to the tram station. We're taking the tram to Scheveningen to have dinner with my uncle's family.
Scheveningen is a very beautiful beach area in Denhaag. In the past it was considered as 'old people town' because most of the residents were grandpas and grandmas. These days, ever since they renovated the pier area, to make it more 'youthful', its always crowded with young people and family having fun at the beach or merely to just sit around having drinks and snacks along the pier.
We had dinner at this Japanese teppan-yaki eatery. Super delicious!
After dinner we took a stroll around the pier, where Little A spotted a carousel and he just had to ride it. I'm sure it wasn't as crowded as it was in the morning/afternoon because most people are heading back home from their beach trip. But it was still super crowded. So different from the last time I went there like a few years ago! It was a beautiful evening though! A bit chilly from the wind, but spectacular view!
Thank you om Stan and family for your hospitality! We can't wait to visit you again in the near future. Probably take a longer visit next time.
Tomorrow we have to get up super early to catch our train to Paris. So I guess I'll see you in my next post: PARIS!
