Singapore: Day 1 (recap)

After the new year's, we decided to jet off to Singapore for a short family vacation. We were supposed to be going to Hong Kong, but due to one thing and another, it didn't happen. So Singapore it is.

2 January 2014

We decided to go after the New Year's to avoid too much crowd. It was a brilliant idea, because when we left, most people are already returning home from their own vacation.

We flew with Garuda Airlines without any significant delay whatsoever at the Soekarno Hatta Airport. Landed in Singapore Changi Airport right on schedule just right after lunch hour. Thank God Little A were (as always) such a calm kid throughout the entire flight.. mostly eating, sleeping and playing with his car toys.

After checking in and settling at our hotel, Mandarin Orchard, we head out to Marina Bay Sands. No, it wasn't for the shopping. Because we couldn't get our hands on any local sim cards for our mobile phone anywhere in Orchard area, we thought, hey, we might get those damn sim cards at the Marina Bay.. also we wanted to check out the Gardens by the Bay.

So Little A wanted to ride the Sampan (gondola-like boat).. I thought it was the worst $30 I ever spent on. I totally don't recommend it.

After getting our sim cards at the 7-11, we walk our way to the Gardens by the Bay. It was a perfect weather, unlike what the forecast predicted.

Okay. I'm embarrassed to admit.. but throughout my previous trips to Singapore, I've never been to Gardens by the Bay. And I have to admit, it was beautiful. Everything was so beautiful. Especially during the night time, when all the lights are lit up. We felt like we're in some magical land far far away. It was enchanting.

We had dinner at one of the restaurants at Gardens by the Bay. We were tired and haven't showered since we arrived in Singapore. So after dinner we decided to call it a night and went back to our hotel via MRT (love Singapore public transportation!).

Until Part 2! Stay tuned.
